Job summary
STEPS is looking for like-minded Care Assistants who share the values and philosophies integral to the success of STEPS. You will encounter a number of different disabling injuries and illnesses and be an integral part of the team supporting clients to live as independently as possible. As a Care Assistant you will be working closely with the clients, their family, and the Interdisciplinary team. You will support the care and therapy for clients physical and emotional needs, following the nursing and therapy rehabilitation care plans closely. Care Assistants have a very varied and rewarding role, having the opportunity to work closely with clients and the skilled nursing and therapy teams at STEPS. This role is suitable for individuals passion for rehabilitation and a willingness to learn who have experience in care and / rehabilitation, students studying a health related degree, or individuals who would like a new challenge and may not have worked in care previously. All training will be provided as part of the induction process.
We offer enhanced rates for working weekends and nights:
Rates of Pay
Mon-Friday 7am-7pm £12.00-£12.91
Mon-Thursday 7pm-7am £15.60-£16.78
Saturday/ Sunday 7am-7pm £15.60-16.78
Friday-Sunday 7pm-7am £18.00-19.37
Bank Holidays are paid at weekend rates.
Main duties of the job
The Care Assistant at STEPS will provide high quality holistic care to STEPS clients, who have complex care and rehabilitation needs whilst supporting the client to be as independent as possible.
They provide day to day care and rehabilitation support to STEPS clients in line with their rehabilitation plans, often providing a first port of call for clients needs
They work with and support an inter-disciplinary team of nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychology team and occupational therapists delivering care and rehabilitation

About us
STEPS is a purpose-built 23-bedroom, unique rehabilitation facility, able to deliver high-quality care from a range of medical and rehabilitation specialists on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. It is a unique environment that provides rehabilitation to clients who have suffered serious injuries and debilitating neurological illnesses.
STEPS has been designed to feel non-clinical, comfortable and homely and we hope you will agree STEPS is like no other care facility you will have worked in. Our specialists work collaboratively under one roof and clients can access a wide range of therapies and specialist robotic and VR rehabilitation equipment. You will be working within our interdisciplinary team comprised of Consultants in rehabilitation medicine; spinal injuries, amputations, anaesthetics, plastic surgery and pain management, physiotherapists; occupational therapists; speech and language therapists; neuro-psychologists; neurologic music therapist; prosthetic and orthotic specialists and amongst other nurses experienced in complex care. - To assist with nursing care as instructed by the nursing staff, including bathing, bed making, assisting with eating and drinking and helping with meals as necessary.
- To provide rehabilitation support to STEPS clients in line with their rehabilitation plans, often providing a first port of call for clients needs.
