Job summary

Physiotherapists provide therapy services as part of the integrated, multi-disciplinary therapy team at Linden Lodge School.You will apply your clinical skills in delivering hands-on physiotherapy, thereby ensuring the provision of a high standard of assessment, treatment and advice to children, young people and their families accessing the school.

Physiotherapy sessions will primarily take place at the school, or at home or in a clinic environment as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for providing specialist, evidence-based and outcome focused physiotherapy provision in order to support the needs of the children and young people attending the school who are at different life stages. They will also be required to support teaching staff and families/ carers to implement occupational therapy strategies and approaches. physiotherapy sessions will primarily take place at the school, or at home or in a clinic environments appropriate.

Our expanding therapy team is seeking a Paediatric Physiotherapist to support and work with our physiotherapy team.

Our ideal candidate will be organized and proactive to meet the needs of a variety of students within the school.

A good foundation of clinical knowledge and experience in paediatric care; gained within a hospital or community setting, is essential for this role.

You will be working with students with a range of sensory needs so a willingness and interest in learning and developing skills within this area are key requirements of the postholder.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Registered member of HCPC and CSP

Desirable

  • Additional paediatric qualifications/experience
  • Further relevant training eg Hydrotherapy, Rebound, treadmill
  • BABTT or APCP memberships

  • Good interpersonal skills to maintain and engender excellent working relationships with colleagues.
  • Recognises the limits of own authority within the role.
  • Understanding the roles of other professionals and ability to work collaboratively within a variety of teams
  • Negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to others where there may be barriers to understanding
  • High level of skills in written and spoken English, including the ability to generate professional letters and reports.
  • Very good organisational, prioritisation, analytical and reflection skills.
  • Motivation to develop own personal development and learning needs

Desirable

  • Experience in providing rebound therapy, hydrotherapy or treadmill training.
  • Experience in report-writing for EHCP requirements and annual reviews.

Experience

  • Experience working with children and young adults with neurological conditions and co-morbidities in education or multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Knowledge of appropriate therapeutic approaches and interventions relevant to the client group.
  • Knowledge of a range of standardised and functional assessment tools relevant to the client.
  • Experience in implementing risk assessment and safe manual handling procedures and strategies.

Desirable

  • Experience autonomously delivering hands-on care to children with neurological and developmental difficulties.
  • Experience in delivering hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, treadmill training, mobility clinics (trikes and bicycles).
  • Experience in specialised Equipment prescription for children with special needs
  • Experience in managing / providing Physiotherapy for children who have had surgical or botulinum toxin interventions
