Job summary

  • Salary £40,000 per year

  • £1000 bonus when completed 12 months service.

  • Full time (4 on, 4 off) and Part time roles available shifts will include days and Nights.

  • Average estimated overtime £3500 per annum

As a qualified nurse or paramedic, you can have a career within the criminal justice system helping some of the most vulnerable people in society . No previous forensic experience required as full training will be given.

The role requires the flexibility to work not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.

  • RN, RGN or dual RMN/RGN Nursing: 2 years - Band 5 minimum

  • Paramedic 2 years

  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experiencein a patient-facing rolewithin a relevant field (General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Walk in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare, Mental Health, or Ambulance Service

  • HCPC/NMC pin (required)

  • Driving Licence (required)

  • All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting

Main duties of the job

The custody suites can be an energetic place to work, with no two shifts the same. Whilst detained, we provide individuals with all their physical, mental healthcare and wellbeing needs, as well as gather any forensic samples needed by the police to aid their investigations. Making careful records on our computerised systems, you'll be assessing whether people are fit to be detained or released, administering medications when needed, and working with local Liaison and Diversion teams to address root cause issues that can prevent future crime.
