Job summary
Following a recent internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for an Orthotist to join our team in Birmingham.
You will join a busy and enthusiastic team with a wide range of experience, offering excellent support, collaboration, and opportunities for learning. You will be part of a growing network of multidisciplinary teams, offering exposure to a diverse and engaging caseload. Working across both inpatient and outpatient settings, you will treat a wide range of conditions including stroke, scoliosis, neuromuscular conditions, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), CTEV, osteoarthritis, spinal trauma, oncology, poliomyelitis, lower limb musculoskeletal conditions, and common foot pathologies.

Main duties of the job
Delivers autonomous, patient-centred care, independently managing routine and moderately complex cases, and seeking guidance for more challenging situations.
Applies sound clinical reasoning and experience across patient groups to ensure accurate device design, fitting, and adjustment using clinical and technical skills.
Contributes to audits, service evaluations and research activities with guidance as needed, supporting data collection and reflective learning.
Manages clinical equipment and resources responsibly, with awareness of cost-effectiveness and service sustainability.
Maintains accurate clinical records and contributes to audits and quality improvement initiatives to support safe, effective and continuously evolving patient care.
About us
Opcare has been delivering orthotic services in Birmingham since 2023, and this role offers a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and enhancing service delivery. The successful candidate will work across our two sites at Birmingham Children's Hospital and The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (this site is due to be relocated to Kings Norton Summer 2026). Across both locations, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient orthotic care, with the Childrens Hospital also delivering regular clinics within specialist schools across the region.
