Job summary

Our clinical homecare nursing team really love what they do! Working in partnership with our NHS colleagues to provide individualised quality nursing care to patients requiring Parenteral Nutrition and other IV therapies in their home.

We currently have a vacancy for a field based Registered Nurse (Band 5) to join our team!

Location: Working with trusts and patients in Hull and the surrounding areas.

Working hours:Monday to Sunday, 40 hours over 5 days per week on a rolling rota. We work split shifts due to disconnecting the patients in the morning and connecting them in the evening. Therefore, our nurses work 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening with a break in the middle.

Main duties of the job

  • To administer prescribed IV therapies and associated care and support to patients who are unable to be trained to independence.
  • To provide training and education to support patients/carers in the connection and disconnection of Parenteral Nutrition and any other prescribed therapies to independence.
  • To provide training and education to support patients/carers to use infusion devices to deliver their therapy/therapies independently.
  • To support the provision of a phlebotomy/cannulation service for patients

Qualifications

Essential

  • - RN with current NMC registration (adult)
  • - Current clinical experience minimum of least 1 year
  • - Competent in the management and delivery of IV Therapies
  • - Flexibility
  • - Ability to work alone
  • - Make decisions in a clinical emergency situation
  • - Ability to manage conflict
  • - Excellent Communication skills
  • - Competent in IT systems eg email, Excel, Word, mobile applications
  • - Good time management
  • - Current Valid driving License
  • - Ability to travel and visit patients outside local area

Desirable

  • - Mentoring/Teaching Certificate or equivalent
  • - Competent in the care and management of CVADs
  • - Blood samples from CVADs
  • - Cannulation/Venipuncture - peripheral
  • - Knowledge of supporting patients requiring Home Parenteral Nutrition and IV Therapies
  • - Understanding of national standards and guidelines for IV infusions/CVADs
