A fantastic opportunity to join a
high performing GP surgery, looking to welcome a new Prescription Clerk to the
team.
We are seeking someone to work 20-26 hours
per week. Salary dependent on experience.
Overview
The Prescription Clerk provides
support to our GPs and the wider team, receiving and preparing repeat
prescriptions for our registered patients.
The Prescription Clerk will be the
main point of contact for all prescription related Patient enquiries.
The post holder will handle sensitive
medical information, so a caring customer service communication style is
essential. Likewise, the post holder will be expected to treat all patients
(& colleagues) with dignity and respect at all times and last, but by no
means least, they will maintain the utmost levels of professionalism and
confidentiality at all times.
Main duties of the job
Co-ordinating and preparing repeat prescriptions for our Patients
Data entry onto patient records
Using EPS (electronic prescription service)
Patient liaison
Community pharmacy liaison
Processing letters relating to medication changes requested by our
secondary care (hospital) colleagues

Argyll House Surgery has been providing an excellent standard of medical care to thousands of patients in Ryde, Wootton Bridge and the surrounding villages for more than 25 years.
Our team includes two fulltime GPs, two part-time GPs, two advanced nurse practitioners, two practice nurses, and two healthcare assistants as well as a pharmacist, our practice manager, reception and secretarial staff. We run a full range of general practice services with special clinics for babies, pregnant women and patients with certain conditions. At the surgery we aim to treat all patients promptly, courteously and in complete confidence.

Job responsibilities
The tasks and responsibilities to be
undertaken may include any or all of the items in the following list. The list
will be subject to change from time to time as it is dependent on current and
evolving practice workload and staffing levels:
Work with GPs and wider team to provide a responsive prescription
service (delegated as appropriate)
Delivering an efficient prescription service and ensuring service
targets are met and errors are minimised.
Comply with legal and professional requirements, accepted guidance on
professional practice, and within safe systems
Run analytical; reports and gather information from a variety of sources
for continuous improvement, safe management of prescriptions, and to
co-ordinate medication reviews or changes
Liaise with pharmacies on the supply of prescribed drugs, alert our
clinicians of any supply issues and forward information on the recommended
alternatives
Expedite urgent prescriptions
Respond to enquiries from patients, carers, secretaries, NHS
administrators, Consultants or the Medicines Management Team in a courteous,
timely and efficient manner, by telephone, letter and email, occasionally
face-to-face and maintain precise records of the communications
Provide an efficient administration to ensure the smooth running of the
prescription service
Ensure Patient information is kept updated as well as secure and
confidential at all times
Maintain accurate Patient records promptly and quickly
Keep up to date with the local formularies
Bring any queries to the attention of the relevant doctor, to include
under and over usage
Liaise with external Pharmacy services and patients as necessary to
resolve queries
Build good working relationships with local Pharmacies
Check emails regularly and deal with them appropriately
Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written
or computerised information is easily accessible and secure
Escalate problems to your line manager
Undertake training as requested
Carry out any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the GPs,
Practice Manager, Line Manager.
