Job summary
This role will support the Coventry & Warwickshire Training Hub with the development of the paramedic workforce across GP practices in our ICS footprint across the Coventry & Warwickshire footprint. This post holder will act as a Paramedic Ambassador to support the development of the paramedic workforce within primary care.
This post holder will support the advancement of the paramedic role within primary care and will be responsible in delivering across a portfolio of projects relating to recruitment and development of primary care paramedics with key stakeholders including primary care employers, Primary Care Networks (PCN), C&W System, Health Education England (HEE), Health Education Institutes (HEI), HCPC and NHS England. The post is an interactive role, developed in response to the demands of primary care, new emerging roles for paramedics in primary care and the latest GP Contract Additional Roles Programme. Reporting to the Training Hub Leads, the Paramedic Ambassador will maintain responsibility to support other Paramedics and projects in relation to workforce development within the Coventry & Warwickshire system. The role may also require the postholder to support the development and recruitment of other Allied Health Professional (AHP) when required.
Main duties of the job
- To
participate in recruitment and training of undergraduate and qualified
paramedics
- Develop
and facilitate undergraduate paramedic placements in general practice
- Build
working relationships with Schools of Paramedic Science to facilitate the
development of the role
- Promote
the role of paramedics across the Coventry & Warwickshire system, in
accordance with local and national guidelines
- To offer
guidance, support and updates to paramedics and other staff working in
general practice
- Identify
areas for paramedic, AHP and non-AHP workforce development
- Train and
support other healthcare professionals to perform optimally in their roles
across the Coventry & Warwickshire system.
- Support
the Training Hub team to support practices across Coventry &
Warwickshire with workforce development
- Promote
additional services to all members of Coventry & Warwickshire system,
including training at practice and PCN level to support the uptake of
available services
- Seek
advice from other health professionals/ senior paramedics on matters
beyond level of competence
About us
Coventry and Warwickshire Training Hub
(CWTH) was established in October 2020 as the two existing training hubs were
aligned. The Training Hub delivers its Health Education England commissioned
core aims to all four places in our system. These aims include supporting
recruitment and retention of primary care workforce, placement capacity and
quality and embedding of the additional roles.
We work in partnership with several
stakeholders including our CCG and Health Care Partnership to also support
workforce planning and delivery.

Essential
- Registered member of the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council)
- Educated to degree/diploma level in Paramedicine
Desirable
- Management of patients with long term conditions
- Knowledge of Local and national health policy
- Clinical governance issues in primary care
- Ability to identify determinants on health in the patient population
- Demonstrates ability to identify where there is a gap in the evidence base to support good practice
- Clinical knowledge to implement in practice to design and deliver new services
- Significant experience of working in Primary Care at both practice and PCN level
- Significant knowledge and understanding of the workings of the NHS, the challenges it faces and of the reform agenda
- Knowledge and experience of programme and/or project management and delivery within a delegated budget
- Experience of communicating and engaging effectively with external agencies/stakeholders
- Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring and reporting on performance drawing on complex information from a variety of sources
- Strong knowledge of IT, and ability to utilise and interpret data from these systems
- Experience of achieving objectives by working with others not under direct line management control
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Sound knowledge of Paramedic ARRS including HEE framework, advanced practice framework and four pillars of advanced practice.
- Supervision of a broad range of Paramedics in extended roles previously.
- The ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
