Coventry &
Warwickshire Training Hub have an exciting opportunity for an experienced GP Tutor to join the GP Tutor team in design and delivery of a medical education curriculum
to meet needs of the GPs and other primary care clinicians with South
Warwickshire (SW) Place.
Reporting to the GP
Education Programme Lead, the post holder will work collaboratively with other
GP Tutors, to offer support to GPs within the Coventry & Warwickshire, in
particular South Warwickshire Place area, regarding appraisal and revalidation,
lunch education sessions and will run Monthly (PLT meetings), delivering a
continued education programme for the GPs and other primary care clinicians.
Interviews will take place on Wednesday 24th August.

Main duties of the job
Working as part of
the GP Tutor team, you will plan and oversee the 9-year Protected Learning
Times (PLT) teaching programme for SW, identifying topics consistent with local
priorities and individual learning needs; discussion of learning content and
delivery with speakers; organising and facilitating workshops, assessing
success.
Work with SW Place
and SW Clinical Leaders such as the LMC, place lead and clinical directors to
ensure the development of a multidisciplinary approach to Protected Learning
Times, where appropriate.
Act as a resource
to GPs with specific educational needs as identified either by appraiser(s) or
individual GPs themselves (e.g. help with PDP and sourcing CPD, MRCGP, MAP,
audit, significant events, study leave, sabbatical, retirement planning,
returning to work, or being identified as poorly performing).
Support GPs in the
implementation of revalidation, re-certification and re-licensing to meet the
standards set by the DoH.
Facilitate and
support education groups such as the first five group, senior and experienced GPs
and others that evolve.

The post holder will be employed by Coventry & Rugby GP Alliance, to assist with the design and delivery of a medical education curriculum under the Coventry & Warwickshire Training Hub (CWTH).
Coventry & Warwickshire Training Hub delivers its Health Education England commissioned core aims to all four places in our system. These aims include supporting recruitment and retention of primary care workforce, placement capacity and quality and embedding of the additional roles.

The Place GP Tutor will assist with the design
and delivery of a medical education curriculum to meet needs of the GPs and
other primary care clinicians with South Warwickshire (SW) Place.
The post holder will work as part of the GP
Tutor team and report to the GP Education Programme Lead with regards to
development and delivery of Post Graduate clinical education to GPs who have
completed their training.
In order to successfully deliver the
requirements of the role, the post holder will have the ability to identify the
learning needs of the SW Place member practices both by asking the GPs
themselves what they feel they need and by addressing needs identified by SW
Place and other relevant
stakeholders, for example Warwickshire LMC, federation and SW Place
Executive. The post holder will use this
information to structure the education programme.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Protected Learning
- Work as part of the GP Tutor team with the GP Education Programme
Lead to plan and oversee the 9 year Protected Learning Times (PLT)
teaching programme for SW.
Identifying topics consistent with local priorities and individual
learning needs; discussion of learning content and delivery with speakers;
organising and facilitating workshops, assessing success.
- Support the GP Education Programme lead and lunchtime Tutor
approximately once a month to run lunch education sessions.
- Attend bi-monthly planning meetings to discuss the contents of the
teaching programme
- Work with SW Place and SW Clinical Leaders such as the LMC, place
lead and clinical directors to ensure the development of a multidisciplinary
approach to Protected Learning Times, where appropriate
- Work proactively to create a database of email addresses of GPs who
would like to be on the mailing list for PLTs including locums and
salaried GPs.
Support for Individual GPs
- Act as a resource to GPs with specific educational needs as
identified either by appraiser(s) or individual GPs themselves (e.g. help
with PDP and sourcing CPD, MRCGP, MAP, audit, significant events, study
leave, sabbatical, retirement planning, returning to work, or being
identified as poorly performing).
