Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Safeguarding Nurse SCPHN (HV or SN) to join our Safeguarding Team in Slough in the role of Safeguarding Specialist Nurse on a part time basis, working 22.5hrs per week. The post holder will be a fundamental part of the local Safeguarding Team, working under the direction of the Head of Safeguarding, working alongside the Named Nurse to ensure that standards are maintained and that the safeguarding of children is the focus of our service.
We are looking for someone who is able to work independently, is resilient, with an inquiring mind, critical thinking, and clear decision-making skills in relation to the protection of vulnerable children.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who could be present in the Slough Office part of the week, however we are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.
Main duties of the job
To provide day to day, operational safeguarding support to the 0-19 (25) Service in Slough. Working alongside the Named Nurse and under the direction of the Head of Safeguarding, the post holder will provide supervision, guidance and training to ensure practitioners are confident in fulfilling their safeguarding responsibilities. The post holder will also assist with ensuring the organisation is discharging their statutory safeguarding duties fully.

Role Summary
- To assist the Head of Safeguarding to embed safeguarding and ensure safe delivery of services.
- To provide a service that safeguards and promotes the welfare of children, young people, and their families by facilitating a multi-agency approach to address needs and offer leadership to improve outcomes.
- To provide formal, expert supervision, working within governance frameworks, escalating concerns to the Head of Safeguarding in order to respond to and address risks, identify themes and support any learning.
- To support the Head of Safeguarding in leading an expert, specialist service providing responsive support to all staff relating to the safeguarding agenda and being able to offer advice based on evidence-based research and practice.
- To assist the Head of Safeguarding in the development and delivery of safeguarding related training across the service.
- To assist the Head of Safeguarding in the completion of Independent reviews.

- Good knowledge of national and local safeguarding policies, guidelines and recommendations
- Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to safeguarding

- Knowledge of wider, multi-agency safeguarding systems
- Line management experience of delivering clinical supervis, and an in depth post registration experience
- Experience of delivering clinical supervision, and knowledge of policy development and implementation

- Ability to be a resilient professional using a strengths based approach, as well as the ability to demonstrate tenacity and responsiveness in safeguarding vulnerable children and famililes
