ELLERN MEDE CENTRE FOR EATING DISORDERS Derby are now recruiting for an Medical Secretary / Mental Health Act Administrator 

Ellern Mede is an internationally renowned specialist service for people with eating disorders and our expert clinicians offer both inpatient and outpatient treatments tailor-made to each individual. We offer short term recovery-focused treatment as well as high dependency intensive treatment for complex, challenging cases.

We are looking for an experienced administrator to take on the new role of Medical Secretary / Mental Health Act Administrator.

The post holder will work as a member of the administration team with the objective of providing high quality, timely and accurate support to the clinical team.

Main duties of the job

The principle task of the post is to provide efficient and effective secretarial, clerical and administrative support to the medical team at Ellern Mede.

You will provide secretarial support to Consultant Psychiatrists within the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department and assist in the organisation of appointments and diaries etc. and will work unsupervised, managing your own workload, exercising the highest standard of confidentiality using independent judgement and initiative, based on acquired knowledge and experience, demonstrating influence and composure when working under pressure and to strict deadlines.

To liaise with external agencies and ensure patient admission episodes are planned and organised efficiently. To maintain a file of admissions and commissioning agreement and ensure that all commissioning for current patients is obtained in good time.

Work within the Mental Health Act, Health and Social Care Act 2008, Children Act, Data Protection Act, Human Rights Act, UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and all other legislation as required by law.

To liaise with external professionals as necessary including CQC, ombudsmen, tribunal panels, hospital managers, commissioners, referrers, clinicians, social services and other relevant bodies.

To exercise good knowledge of the Mental Health Act, 1983 and maintain excellent records.

To liaise effectively and be an excellent communicator at all levels
