Ellern Mede Derby are now hiring for an Specialist Eating Disorder Dietician.
The successful candidate
will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and high-profile
professionals to provide specialist advice and support to children, young people
& their families receiving treatment at Ellern Mede.
Intensive dietetic
support is a key part of the MDT approach to help our patients to manage their
illnesses
Main duties of the job
Duties will include the following
- Support and motivate patients to increase their confidence
in eating and drinking and take control of their life back from the eating
disorder.
- Work alongside other professional to support patients so
that they can manage to eat and drink in restaurants and cafes as part of the
social eating care pathway.
- Liaise with, and support other professionals, families and
carers as required.
- Carry out dietetic assessments on nutritional intake,
activity levels etc.
- Prepare oral supplement and nasogastric feeding plans as
required.
- Deliver group talks and presentations on normal healthy
eating.
- Review patient eating diaries in hospital and from home.
- Design and review nutrition plans.

Qualifications
Essential
- Good Honours degree (or above) in Dietetics / Clinical Human Nutrition
- Full registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council)
Desirable
Experience
Essential
- 3 years fulltime postgraduate Clinical Dietetic experience working with a wide range of presentations
- Experience of working with Eating disorders.
- Experience of working in a mental health setting
Desirable
- Experience of working with Paediatrics.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
- Up to date knowledge of current issues in eating disorders
- Knowledge of evidence based practice.
- Working knowledge of legislation & its implications for both clinical practice & professional management in relation to the client group & mental health
- Demonstrates breadth of experience and awareness for Eating Disorders
- Experience of working with complex and treatment resistant eating disorders
- Experience of delivery family based treatment.
- Counselling skills
- Motivational interviewing
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
