Job summary
The successful candidate is an experienced
clinical pharmacist with strong management and leadership skills. They will
bring experience working within general practice to improve the quality and
safety of care offered to patients of the primary care network. They will be
able to lead a team of pharmacists, as well as liaising with primary care
networks to deliver the network DES and other clinical work as deemed
appropriate by the PCN leadership.
The senior
pharmacist would support their Clinical Pharmacy team to develop and manage
medicines optimisation services within the network practices. They will provide
leadership to ensure the clinical pharmacy team achieve the following aims:
To reduce the medicines related workload on doctors.
Increase safety and quality of prescribed medicines.
Provide support on medicines related issues to the whole practice
team.
To develop quality improvement for medicines management and
prescribing across each primary care network

Line manager for PCN clinical pharmacists-Take responsibility for Introducing new clinical pharmacists to their practices and explain the role, manage expectations, and explain how the role will progress.

-Working in the same practice as the clinical pharmacist periodically and address any gaps in knowledge, demonstrate good practice and update progression plans.
-Organise debrief discussions at team meetings.

About us
Islington GP Federation (IGPF) is a growing organisation representing 31 practices; we have
established ourselves as a leader in new ways of working, including running Islingtons extended
access primary care services (I:HUB) as well as supporting the Islington Primary Care Networks
(PCNs). Our current range of services include the Extended Access Service, I:HUB, Community Ear,
Nose and Throat (ENT), Integrated Community Gynaecology, practice-based pharmacists and a
range of practice support mechanisms.
IGPF works very closely with a range of partners including the regional commissioning group, NHS
England, Healthy London Partnership, Public Health, local hospitals such as UCLH, Whittington
Health and the London Borough of Islington.
IGPF is the host organisation for the Primary Care Network (PCN) workforce and the Islington
Training Hub and has been working for over two years to create training and development
programmes that meet the needs of staff working in primary and community care settings. IGPF
runs two Islington GP practices on caretaking contracts; a third practice will be taken on within this
