About Islington GP Federation
The Islington GP Group Limited, trading as
Islington GP Federation (IGPF), is a rapidly growing organisation representing
the interests of general practice in Islington. It is an established leader in
the provision of new and integrated provision of healthcare, including
supporting the new Primary Care Networks and developing quality improvement
capabilities in general practice. Its range of services include I:HUB,
community ENT, community gynaecology, practice-based pharmacists, long term
condition management optimisation, proactive screening and evaluation trials,
and a range of general practice support propositions.
IGPF works very closely with strategic,
commissioning and provider partners, including the local clinical commissioning
group, NHS England, Healthy London Partnership, Public Health, local hospitals,
such as Whittington Health, the local authority, third sector
organisations and patient representation groups. It plays an important role in
the development of the health and care landscape across Islington, and within
its North Central London (NCL) regional footprint.
The small but effective management and support
structure includes local GPs, nurses, practice managers and other non-clinical
staff. It has a core team of less than 50 staff, based in its Holloway office,
and in total employs around 150 the majority on a monthly, part-time basis. This role
is for someone who wants to work with a dynamic organisation and is prepared to
adapt and develop with the team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and
flexible administrator with an interest in Primary Care.
Job Summary
The purpose of the role is to:
- Undertake a variety of administrative
duties to assist with the smooth running and continuous development of
I:HUB and other Federation services
Job
Responsibilities
- Computer /data
entry and session allocation with particular attention to rota software
- Have/develop full understanding of EMIS Web (our clinical system)
and Rotamaster (our rostering software)
- Providing clerical assistance to Federation staff as required
- Minute taking at regular
Operations Team meetings, as and when required
- Undertaking a wide range of administrative duties which include
ensuring all information is managed correctly, filed and followed up
accordingly
- Have a working knowledge of all office based software and hardware
- Dealing with
patient and practice queries
- Conduct
regular and ad hoc visits to the 3 hubs
- Communicating
with service bank staff and contractors and responding to queries
efficiently, effectively and politely
- Pre-empt
and proactively solve problems to ensure the smooth running of the
Federation services

Specification
Essential
- Competent using MS Office Suite
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication
skills
- Willing and able to learn to use new
software to a high level
- Good initiative for pre-empting and solving
problems
- Equally able to work well individually and
as part of a team
- Willingness to attend to ad hoc duties at
short notice, including unscheduled site visits
- Ability to manage both routine and novel
tasks to an equal high standard
Desirable
- Understanding of EMIS Web Clinical System
- Understanding of Rotamaster rostering
software
- Administrative experience
- Interest in IT
- Interest in data extraction and analytics
