You will support the Head
of Outpatients to provide safe, effective and efficient management of the
department within allocated resources, deputising in the absence of the Head of
Outpatients. Responsibilities will include
staff appraisal, staff personal development, management of absence, recruitment
and disciplinary and grievance processes and will participate in the hospital
managers on-call rota.Will also support the
Head of OPD with the clinical governance and patient experience agenda within
OPD.
You will use your experience to act as nurse clinical lead for cosmetics, providing continuity of care pre and post operatively, acting as the main point of nurse contact for that service.

Main duties of the job
Your
will be responsible and accountable for the management of the Cosmetic
nursing service, ensuring the provision of clinically appropriate, efficient
and effective evidence-based nursing care for patients undergoing cosmetic
surgery.

Job responsibilities
Deputise for the Head of OPD,
taking responsibility for the operational management of the department in the
absence of the Head of OPD. This will include robust governance of the
department and the cosmetic service, safe staffing, sickness management, staff
development, incident reporting and management, risk assessments and audit.
Act as
a nurse clinical lead for cosmetics, providing continuity of care pre and
post operatively, acting as the main point of nurse contact for that service.
Support aesthetic procedures in
Outpatients, consulting with patients, screening and assist with the
scheduling of patients prior to care being provided.
Undertake audit pertinent to
the role, e.g. audit compliance with a
two-week cooling off period between that patient agreeing to undergo cosmetic
surgery and the surgery being performed? (As set out in the RCS Professional
Standards for Cosmetic Surgery).
Work closely with
consultants and other members of the multidisciplinary team in the
development of the cosmetic service, including the provision of nurse-led
clinics pre and post operatively.
Set, monitor and review standards of
care via audit on a regular basis and where required, initiate corrective
action plans.
Ensure all
patients undergoing cosmetic surgery are appropriately assessed considering
their vulnerabilities and psychological needs and ensures processes are in
place to refer to specialist as necessary.
Provide visible leadership and supervision using advanced
nursing knowledge and evidence-based practice, to provide clinically
appropriate nursing care to patients, and where applicable, support their
families and carers.
Represent Outpatients and the Cosmetic surgery
service in both internal and external meetings, including chairing meetings.
Develop
and review departmental policy as required.
Provide a suitable and safe environment for the physical,
psychological and spiritual wellbeing of staff, patients/clients and their
relatives/carers, seeking guidance or advice where necessary.
