Job summary

HMT Sancta Maria Hospital is the only private hospital in Swansea offering a wide range of procedures carried out by a number of our leading consultants. Join us as we are currently looking for motivated, committed and experienced Senior Theatre Practitioner to join our busy and diverse Theatre team. You will support a range of surgical specialities due to the complexity of services offered at HMT Sancta Maria Hospital. We require our staff to be multi-skilled and we pride ourselves on providing training and career development to our teams.

This is an exciting time to be a part of the team at Sancta Maria Hospital as we have commenced the build of a brand-new state-of-the-art private hospital which will be situated in the SA1 area of Swansea.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse or ODP. Ideally, you will have experience and skills for a range of complex specialities. The post holder will need to possess or be prepared to develop skills in critical thinking, process and quality improvement, teaching and assessing. They must be able to evidence continuing professional development. We are a very inclusive team who use a collaborative approach to identify opportunities to improve and solve problems, so it is very important that the candidate can work as part of a team, including the wider multidisciplinary team. The candidate will need to have excellent interpersonal skills to uphold the high standards of service we provide to our patients, their carers and consultant users. They will need to be flexible and be able to adapt dynamically to changing situations. The post holder will work shifts and need to fulfil an on call commitment.

  • Educated to Diploma/Degree level or equivalent
  • NMC / HCPC registration

Desirable

  • Surgical First Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Leadership qualification
  • Teaching/Mentoring experience and/or qualification

Experience

  • Experience in scrub, anaesthetics or recovery
  • Knowledge and understanding of varied specialities
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • NHS or Independent sector experience

Desirable

  • Evidence of completed competency in scrub for cases undertaken or evidence of specialty expertise
  • Evidence of completed competency to work in the circulating role in theatre
