Main duties of the job
As a Diabetes/Health Educator, you will play a vital role in delivering our Empower structured diabetes education programme to patients in and across the UK. You will deliver both face to face and virtual sessions, with some evening evening and weekend availability required. In return we offer flexibility and work satisfaction.
What you will do is:
- Deliver the EMPOWER programme to patients living with diabetes.
- Deliver sessions in line with our curriculum, standards, educator handbook, lesson plan and service(s) Operating Manual.
- Provide compassionate support to help patients achieve long-term lifestyle changes.
- Ensure compliance with all Spirit policies and procedures.

What are the results and outcomes this role is to achieve?
- The post holder undertakes training and passes competence assessment to deliver diabetes education
- Diabetes education is delivered in an inclusive and interactive manner which allows for questions and discussion on the topics covered
- Delivery of education is patient centred and allows for a variety of learning styles to support cognitive learning
- The educator introduces and covers each topic following the curriculum closely
- Educators reflect on the session, identify what went well, what went less well and what changes could be made.
Any reasonable duties shall be undertaken to achieve the above.
What performance measures are necessary to measure the above?
- Undertake a structured training programme and pass a competency assessment to enable delivery of the course following the curriculum
- Annual observation and reaccreditation process
- Achieve a consistently high patient feedback score
Principal Responsibilities
- Delivery of interactive structured diabetes education programmes in accordance with the set curriculum and lesson plan
- Use a range of sound teaching and learning techniques to improve participants ability to self manage their diabetes
- Ensure the course is delivered using the most up to date programme content
- Understand the administration and course organisation process undertaken by the administ
- Ensure all paperwork is completed, eg, attendance sheet, quality of live questionnaires, goal setting ad action plans and satisfaction surveys
