Exciting
opportunities have risen for Physician Associates to join us at Newham Health
Collaborative to work in our various Primary Care Network (PCN) in the borough of Newham.
This role is very much a patient-facing role, and the successful candidates will be responsible
for the provision of clinical service, working as part of the multidisciplinary
practice team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the patient
population. The physician associates will be required to work autonomously in GP
practices, providing a range of services, such as assessment, diagnosis,
treatment, telephone triage, clinical decision-making and referring patients
appropriately.

Main duties of the job
You will have completed the Physician Associate Postgraduate
Diploma and have a passion for developing a career in Primary Care while
working within their scope of clinical practice.
The post
holders will provide advice for the presenting patient from initial history
taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They
will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including
assessment and diagnostic skills, for patients being treated.
The post holders will demonstrate critical
thinking in the decision-making process. Under the supervision of a GP Partner,
they will work collaboratively as part of the primary care team and provide
advice to meet the needs of patients, and their relatives/carers, while at all
times working within the agreed policies and procedures supporting the way care
is provided.
About us
Newham Health Collaborative Ltd (NHC) is a GP federation representing all the GP practices within the Newham borough boundaries. This covers a population of approximately 400,000 patients. We are established as a limited company, wholly owned by our 47 GP practice members.
Since 1 July 2019, all the GP practices in Newham have come together in ten Primary Care Networks (PCNs) covering populations of approximately 400,000 patients. These will also be the footprint around which integrated community-based teams will develop, and community and mental health services will be expected to configure their services around PCN boundaries.
Candidates offered a role with Newham Health Collaborative, who are aged 18 and over and who will play a part in supporting patient care as part of their role will be required to evidence that they have received a complete course of an approved COVID-19 vaccine, subject to limited exceptions, by no later than 1 April 2022. This will include front-line workers, as well as non-clinical workers not directly involved in patient care but who nevertheless may have direct, face to-face and/or incidental contact with patients, such as corporate staff including admin, receptionists, specialist staff etc.

Essential
- Certification of passing the PA National Examination
- Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, including registration on the PA Managed Voluntary Register
- MSc Degree / PgD in Physician Associate Studies
- BA/BSc degree prior to undertaking PA program

- On the Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register
