Job summary

We are looking for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Minor Injuries Clinic in Felixstowe. This is a unique experience to join a small, friendly and supportive team that supports local surgeries by providing community healthcare such as; phlebotomy, wound management and minor injury treatment.

  • Youll be based at our community Minor Injuries Clinic, supporting the community with providing a high standard of professional conduct and nursing care.
  • You will be involved with wound care, and will actively participate in phlebotomy and leg ulcer clinics - training can be provided by current staff where necessary. 
  • Youll also encourage multi-disciplinary communication networks with patients and other health care workers.

We will work alongside the successful candidate to ensure they are sufficiently inducted and trained; there will be regular constructive supervision in place. It is important to us that you feel safe and supported in the role.

  • You will have a current NMC registration, and will be able to provide evidence of your own practice being up to date and research based.
  • It would be desirable if youve had experience of using SystmOne before to manage patients.
  • Youll need to be able to demonstrate that you can work flexibly to respond and to meet the needs of the service.

Contract type:

This is a part time role, working 22.5 hours per week. The shifts available will vary between Monday - Sunday 08:00 - 16:00, 12:00 - 20:00 or 08:00 - 20:00.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To provide a high standard of professional conduct and nursing care to patients of all ages at the point of entry to the healthcare system.
  • To deliver a holistic, autonomous clinical nursing service including assessment diagnosis, treatment and safe discharge of patients presenting with conditions specified in the MIC directory of service; and refer to other agencies if necessary.
  • To deliver a high-quality Wound Care service, actively participate in the Phlebotomy and Ambulatory Leg Ulcer Clinics.
  • The post holder will treat, advise and/or refer patients appropriately either within the department or externally.
  • To develop care plans for individual patients/clients using agreed protocols and guidelines for specific conditions and using specified treatments as agreed within the Federation.
  • To carry out telephone advice as necessary.
  • To provide clinical and supervisory leadership to junior staff within the team.
  • To be jointly responsible with other senior colleagues for the day to day planning and delivery of the service.
  • To provide specialist Nursing input into planning, development and evaluation of clinical services within the team, with responsibility for defined projects.
