Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Commissioning Manager to join the Urgent and Emergency Care Team on a permanent basis.

As Senior Commissioning Manager, you will support the Head of Urgent and Emergency Care in driving forward the strategic development and commissioning of urgent care services within JUCD.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have be an experienced line manager with excellent project management skills. The role involves extensive working with clinicians and colleagues from across the health system, so the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to work and communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including the ability to negotiate on difficult issues.

Most importantly, you will bring enthusiasm, excellent communication and influencing skills and have a genuine passion for improving the experience and services for patients in Derbyshire.

Based at either Chesterfield or Derby, there will be a requirement for travel within the Derbyshire region. The team are currently working from home, moving to a hybrid model of home and office-based working in the coming months.

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent.
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England and individual provider and commissioning organisations
  • Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups
