Senior Pharmacist Repeat Prescribing Project

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (DDICB) is responsible for commissioning health services for the population of Derbyshire.

The former Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) undertook a review of prescribed medication and found that each year unused prescription medicines were costing the NHS in Derby/Derbyshire over £6 million.

To help reduce this cost, the Repeat Prescribing Project was set up and the Medicines Order Line (MOL) implemented, this is is a dedicated telephone line staffed by trained advisors who are able to answer any queries patients may have about their repeat prescriptions, discuss medication requirements and alert patients if a medication review is needed.

The aim of the service is to eliminate prescription medication waste by encouraging patients to avoid stock piling medication and to only order the medication they genuinely need.

The utilisation of the MOL service is optional for GP practices to participate in and may not be suitable for every patient.

NHS DDICB Medicines Optimisation and Delivery Team are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 8a Senior Pharmacist Repeat Prescribing.

Interviews will be held on Friday, 9th December

Main duties of the job

This role will provide senior clinical support and leadership for the Derbyshire Repeat Prescribing Project including the MOL to enable rollout to all practices in Derbyshire including service delivery, development and improvements, business planning and monitoring.

The role will also be involved in projects which aim to deliver improvements in repeat prescription management across practices in Derbyshire to support quality, safety and reduce waste medicines.

Consideration will be given to flexible working options

This role will be part of the Medicines Optimisation and Delivery Team that are responsible for delivering safe effective medicines optimisation programmes that optimises the value of medicines and reduces waste.

The Base for this role will be Cardinal Square in Derby or Scarsdale in Chesterfield with a need to also cover the MOL teams based in Ilkeston.

Hybrid working arrangements will be discussed as part of the interview
