Job summary
The Deputy Designated Professional for All-Age Safeguarding will work closely with the Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Designated Professional for Safeguarding Adults to deliver the strategic work programme for the ICB Safeguarding Team.
As the Deputy Designated Professional for All-Age Safeguarding, the post holder will provide managerial support to the specialist practitioners within the ICB safeguarding team. They will also provide group supervision to the Named Professionals for safeguarding across BSW. They will provide expert safeguarding advice around individual patients/ cases when necessary.
In addition to providing leadership internally, this post holder will also deputise for the Designated Nurse/Professional externally at partnership meetings when necessary and required. This will include assisting in, contributing to, and overseeing the learning from a range of statutory safeguarding reviews for children, young people, and adults.
Taking an active role in relevant sub groups of the local and regional safeguarding arrangements for children and adults. This is to drive improvements in quality of care and safeguarding practice, including leading and chairing a sub group on behalf of the ICB Safeguarding team.
Apply a structured change management approach and methodology to measure the impact of any change.
Main duties of the job
To support the Designated Nurse/Professionals within the ICB Safeguarding team by contributing to the safeguarding work programme strategically. To deliver projects and take a proactive leadership role within the team on all aspects of safeguarding children, young people, children in care and adults.
To deputise for the Designated Nurse/Professional within the ICB Safeguarding team by attending Statutory Safeguarding Reviews, representing the ICB and working towards demonstrating safeguarding system leadership. Thinking strategically about safeguarding practice across the health system and what changes could be made to improve. This will include analysing complex information, interpreting information from across the health system, and making recommendations for change using sound judgement.
To highlight any identified risks to the ICB, and work with the Designated Nurse/Professional to recommend where changes to safeguarding practice or service design could be made to improve the health and wellbeing of children, young people, and adults in BSW.
To provide innovative clinical leadership in prevention, early identification and effective intervention for children and young people at risk of child maltreatment and to safeguard adults at risk.

Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential
- Valid Professional registration with a professional body with a Health registration - NMC / HCPC.
- Educated to master's level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
- Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent.
- Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.
- Must have a working knowledge of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement .
- Should understand the relationship between the Department of Health and Social Care, the ICB and individual provider and other commissioning organisations
