ICB ASSOCIATE NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: FINANCE

Are you an experienced Finance professional looking to make a real impact on Healthcare in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin? Would you like to gain valuable NHS Board and Committee-level experience and skills?

The NHS is facing some of the most significant challenges in its history as it embarks on the most ambitious recovery of services ever following the pandemic. Doing this requires high calibre leaders that can help lead organisations to navigate a complex and changing environment.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Finance professional to add value to our progressive, dynamic, and ambitious Integrated Care Board (ICB) as an Associate Non-Executive Director for Finance on the Board, and Finance Committee of the ICB. This role is integral to our organisation and will work collectively with ICB Executive and Non-Executive Directors, the Chair, and other Stakeholders, to ensure that the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System provides high-quality and sustainable services to our patients and, maintains a culture of continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

Your Role

This role will support the Finance Committee, the Chair of the ICB and the wider Board on issues relating to and gaining assurance on the financial sustainability of both Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System and NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

The individual will work collaboratively to help shape and seek assurance on the long-term, viable Financial Plan to underpin the 5-year Joint Forward Plan for the delivery of the functions, duties and objectives of the ICB and for the stewardship of public money.

They will play a key role in advising on the establishment and maintenance of the Finance Committee arrangements for the ICS, and to ensure that the Board of the ICB meets its Financial statutory duties.

About us

Our Integrated Care System, (ICS) footprint, covers 1,347 square miles, but is one of the smallest in terms of population, covering around 500,000 people.

We have one Integrated Care Board (ICB) covering the area of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and two Local Unitary Authorities; Shropshire Council and Telford and Wrekin Council.

We have two Acute Hospitals, sited less than 20 miles apart, with services delivered by one Acute Trust, Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust (SaTH). There is also a specialist Orthopaedic Hospital, Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RJAH), which provides elective orthopaedic surgery, sited in the North-West of the County.

Additional providers include a Community Trust (Shropcom), a Mental Health Trust, Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) which covers Shropshire and Staffordshire, and the Region is served by the West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust (WMAS).

Our ICS area is one of a handful that borders Wales, and provides some hospital services for people from the Welsh Health System who are external to the ICS footprint. Some residents of Mid-Wales therefore rely on the services at SaTH and RJAH.
