Job summary
NHS Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is excited to offer the opportunity for a diligent, motivated, ambitious individual, with experience in quality assurance and improvement to support the Quality and Safety team in the delivery of the Oldham Cares Quality Strategy.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual who has experience of quality improvement and assurance with the skills to develop, maintain and have oversight of quality standards and monitoring frameworks for commissioned services. Working to the Quality and Safety Improvement nurse, the post holder will have key roles in quality assuring health and social care provider services. The post holder will support and assist on the development of quality improvement strategies and action plans to support providers to address areas of concern relating to quality of care and/or patient /service user risks.
This exciting and crucial role would suit an individual with leadership and quality improvement experience who can demonstrate that they have the passion, ambition, drive, enthusiasm, empathy, determination and skills to continue to develop and deliver our quality vision and that of Oldham Cares. You must be patient focused, have an eye for detail, capable of meeting tight deadlines and can use your own initiative in what will be a challenging but rewarding role. Previous experience / knowledge of the Datix incident management system would be advantageous, however, this is not essential as training and support will be provided to the post holder.
You will be joining a dynamic team striving to improve our services, systems and processes to ensure that high standards of patient care, experience and safety is provided to the people of Oldham.
About us
NHS Oldham CCG is an organisation respected and recognised at a national and local level, with a considerable reputation for commissioning excellence and staff development. Our triple aim to improve care delivery, improve individuals experience of care whilst delivering best value for money is a strong ethos which puts quality of care at the heart of everything that we do. This is an exciting time in Oldham as different parts of Oldham Council, the NHS and the community and voluntary sectors have come together and formed Oldham Cares as part of the integration of health and social care.
Oldham Cares brings together services and systems that help care for our local communities. This joined up way of working will mean a better experience for patients and, in the longer term, real improvements to their health and wellbeing. Oldham Cares isnt another organisation. Its a different way of working. Its about joining up the gaps between our health and social care systems to make things better for people who live in Oldham.
Our approach is based around place-based systems of care in which commissioners (the people who design services) and providers (the people who deliver them) work together. Instead of working for individual parts of the system, the organisations will be working for Oldham as a whole and, at a more localised level, for the smaller neighbourhoods and communities.

Greater Manchester Integrated Care System (ICS)
In February 2021 the Government announced a number of new measures as part of a proposed Health and Care Bill, including the creation of statutory Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).
In Greater Manchester we have been working as an ICS for the last five years with strong working partnerships between health and social care and the voluntary sector. The creation of a statutory ICS will formalise the arrangements we have in place and mark another positive step in our journey, which started with the health and care devolution deal in 2015. The statutory ICS will include a new ICS NHS Body and Health and Care Partnership Board.
From April 2022 (subject to national legislative approval) the commissioning duties of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), including their functions and roles, will transfer to be delivered as part of the new Greater Manchester ICS NHS Body. This will mean that functions and roles may be delivered differently in the future, with place based and Greater Manchester-level teams working alongside each other.
If you wish to read further details about the proposed changes details can be found at (Integrating Care- next steps to building strong and effective-integrated care systems).
