As our Workforce Analyst you will support our Strategic Workforce Planner, as well as our various people teams and workforce committees, to understand our workforce opportunities and threats. Ultimately you will support our health and care system to ensure we have a workforce of sufficient numbers, with the right skills available to us at the right time to meet the needs of our populations.

About us

NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for planning and arranging the provision of NHS services to meet the diverse health needs of a population of 1.7 million people. Our area reaches over 1,500 square miles and includes the cities of Hull and York and the large rural areas across East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. The ICB is part of the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, one of 42 Integrated Care Systems (ICS) across England to meet health and care needs, coordinate services and plan in a way that improves population health and reduces inequality between groups. The Health and Care Partnership comprises of NHS organisations, local councils, health and care providers and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations.

Job responsibilities

Based within the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership you will work across the whole system you will provide an expert workforce analytical service with the aim of:

Supporting the annual operational planning process, its long-term workforce plan and associated recruitment and retention plans

Providing the ICB Workforce Board and other committees with accurate, detailed workforce data, intelligence, and information

Building bespoke workforce databases and dashboards to help focus the ICB People Team resources on the important areas of workforce development

Supporting our Education and Training Team in determining the number of under-graduate student placements needed

Supporting our Best Place to Work Team in understanding our workforces sense of job satisfaction and morale, including what we can do to improve areas of concern and share best practice

Providing an expert data analysis service to meet the ad hoc requests we receive from system partners to support service transformation schemes

You will be employed by Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board but will operate at system-level. This means you will work across a large health and care system to support all partnership organisations to reach our system aspirations.

This role will be formally based at one of our ICB offices but we offer access to flexible and hybrid (home) working. We welcome applications for part-time or job-sharing arrangements.

Occasionally some travel will be required across Humber and North Yorkshire to visit providers, attend events and to train end users in the dashboards and databases that you create.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject such as Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Operational Research, or a related quantitative or analytical discipline or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in an analytical/specialist area.
  • Further training or significant experience in project management, business development or business/service transformation to post-graduate diploma level

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Royal College, NICE etc clinical workforce standards in the health and care sector
  • Knowledge of the NHS People Plan
  • Knowledge and experience of NHS data definitions and statutory reporting.

Experience

Essential

  • Expert knowledge in statistical, data analysis and data modelling, visualisation, and dashboard creation software such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and DAX scripting, Excel and ClickView.
  • Experience of creating and interpreting Statistical Process Charts
  • Experience of project management, financial management or supporting change management processes.
  • Ability to develop and maintain information systems
  • Competent in using the Internet and information bases.
  • Practical experience of database and dashboard design.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of other functions/roles within the Trust.
  • Ability to develop and provide training confidently to both users, for locally developed Information solutions and to Information staff when sharing expertise i.e. dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Appreciation of security and confidentiality within the NHS in relation to staff and patient sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of data security, business confidentiality and information governance
