Main duties of the job

We are currently recruiting a Management Accountant (band 4/5 depending on experience). Prior experience of working in finance is desirable but not essential. This role has scope for development and we welcome applications from candidates who have the right skills and capabilities to do the job. The Job Description and Person Specification are based on a Band 5, but we would consider starting candidates with less experience in a Band 4 role.

Essential

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to communicate financial information comprehensively, understandably and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to NVQ Level 4/AAT Technician Level or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a management accounting role inside or outside of the NHS.
  • High degree of numeracy with ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Four years experience in a finance post.

Desirable

  • Understanding of NHS transactions.

Analytical

  • Able to research information and develop high quality understanding of issues with good associated working papers.
  • Experience of maintenance of high standards of working papers that support accounting adjustments and forecasts.
