Prescribing Support Pharmacy Technician

Main duties of the job
Medicines optimisation is a key work area for the ICB. We employ a well-established team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and independent prescribing pharmacists to support General Practice in county. We are now seeking to appoint additional technicians to this countywide team.
Successful applicants for the Pharmacy Technician roles will support a number of GP
Practices as directed by and supported by the ICBs Medicines Optimisation Team. Fulltime or part-time working hours are welcomed.

The main focusses of this role will be to support medicines management initiatives across prescribing areas and assist with the delivery of local prescribing improvement plans.
Applicants will support safe, evidence based, clinically and cost effective prescribing. All applicants will be required to hold current GPhC registration with Technicians qualified to NVQ Level 3. Previous experience of working in a GP practice is desirable but not essential. You will be computer literate; confident in working independently; able to prioritise workload; and have an understanding of project management skills. You will be well organised, self-motivated and work well as part of a team. Due to the nature of this role, a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle for countywide travel is essential.

- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and ongoing commitment.
- Demonstrable and significant post qualification experience as a technician in primary care, hospital or community pharmacy.
- Experience of working within primary care.
- Ability to dispense prescriptions, to the highest standard in a pharmacy dispensary situation if required, which will include pharmaceutical technical procedures requiring use of manipulation of tools and a high level of accuracy. E.g., preparation of extemporaneous pharmaceutical preparation.
