In the NHS and, in particular, as we form an Integrated Care Board, the data asset available to facilitate this analysis is substantial. While we are just beginning to explore the possibilities of this technology, the potential is almost limitless, and we need people to help us unlock it.

We are recruiting for two Senior Business Intelligence Analysts to join our Business Intelligence Team at NHS Gloucestershire. The ideal candidates will help to drive forward our vision to deliver an exceptional, insightful Business Intelligence service across the wider health and care system in Gloucestershire. The post holders will be responsible for contributing to the provision of a high-quality analytics service to support the Integrated Care System in Gloucestershire.

Job responsibilities

  • Production and dissemination of standard reporting in timely manner and according to schedule.
  • Ensure effective and timely procedures are established to support the internal and external reporting of the ICB performance and local saving targets.
  • Provide insightful analysis supporting decision making both within the ICB and across the Gloucestershire system.
  • Provide support to commissioning and locality leads in relation to service redesign projects, providing activity baselines and modelling service impacts.
  • Lead on the provision of an information service to a clinical programme group, acting as a point of contact to coordinate and deliver on information requests.

  • Experience working with complex information systems and in a data or information environment
  • Experience of interpreting and analysing complex information and presenting it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience of liaising with staff at all levels and being confident in working through organisation corporate issues where information is of influence.

Desirable

  • NHS experience.
  • Detailed, comprehensive, developed knowledge of information flows within the NHS.
  • Experience of understanding patient care pathways right from primary care through to tertiary care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerate subject

Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and MS SQL Server or equivalent database query language or programming language, along with understanding how they interconnect with other information systems.
  • A detailed knowledge of NHS datasets and data definitions.

Desirable

  • An accredited course in informatics or performance management.
  • Knowledge and experience of utilising Business Intelligence visualisations tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
