We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Financial Management team as a Management Accountant. The focus will be mainly on the financial management of projects, and will involve oversight of external funding, helping to ensure robust plans are in place to utilize the funding, reconciling ledgers, and reporting on the financial performance of these programmes, including benefits tracking.

The successful applicant will have experience of finance within a complex organisation. This includes providing high quality financial management and business support, supporting the preparation of month end accounts and working closely with other finance colleagues.

Please note, due to the ongoing cost reduction programme and restructure underway at SNEE ICB (due to end in Summer 2024), prior consideration for this role may be given to existing staff who are affected by this programme and this role may be removed from the recruitment process at any time.

Main duties of the job

Prepare management reports on the financial performance, activity and variances to plans and forecasts, highlighting and investigating key variances;

Undertake month end processing procedures for the ICB to ensure accurate and timely recording of accounting records and completed reconciliations;

Assist with financial queries with staff, suppliers, customers, which are often complex, including reasons for delays in payment and other sensitive issues;

Assist the Senior Finance Business Partner in the preparation of long-term financial plans, annual budgets, in year re-forecasts and sensitivity analysis for portfolio of work;

Provide appropriate financial support to enable the development of commissioning intentions and strategy development.

Ensure compliance with the financial control and governance framework, including change initiatives;

Ensure all income is received and payments made in line with contractual terms.

About us

The NHS Suffolk and North-East Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) plans and buys healthcare services for our population. This function is commonly referred to as commissioning. To do this, we work within a budget of around £1.5 billion, which is set by NHS England, and work closely with local government and the NHS providers in our area. The primary purpose of the Management Accountant is to play a key role within the ICB Finance team to deliver high quality finance support to the ICB.

The role will be a key part of the Management Accounting team in ensuring the successful delivery of monthly performance reporting, development of budgets, plans and forecasts.
