An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled data analyst to work with the Nursing and Quality Directorate of Mid and South Essex ICB. The post holder will act as the central liaison point for all data analysis and will need to develop collaborative relationships working with both internal and external stakeholders.

As the Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in enabling data-driven decision-making within the safety and quality arena. The primary responsibility of this role will involve the collection, processing, and integration of data from various sources to build robust data pipelines and dashboards, reports, and visualisations to support the quality assurance agenda.

Liaising, where necessary, with colleagues concerning issues of data quality and effect on analysis. Communicating analytical/statistical matters to non-analytical/statistical professionals. Ensuring personal and promoting team compliance with corporate policies in relation to security, confidentiality, and release of information.

Main duties of the job

  • Relevent degree.
  • Knowledge of specialist areas acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training.
  • Project Management Qualification or equivalent level of experience.
  • Management qualification or equivalent level of on the job experience.
  • Evidence of continuing personal development.
  • Experience working with health-related datasets or information systems in health-related organisations.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Power BI to analyse data and build, develop, support dashboards.
  • Working knowledge of data security, management, and information governance.
  • Perform analysis to support business decisions e.g., assess data, find trends, drill down, assess relationships or causality, create forecasts.
  • Experience of producing data models, understanding where to use, how to compare and reverse-engineer a data model from a live system.
  • Ability to analyse complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.
  • High degree of numeracy and literacy.
  • Ability to present, communicate and visualise data so that it is accessible to others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences

Mid and South Essex ICB is a statutory organisation responsible for the planning and delivery of local health and care services, across Mid and South Essex and is part of the wider integrated care system. Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) are partnerships of health and care organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up services and to improve the health of people who live and work in their area. The headquarters for the organisation is Phoenix Court, Basildon, but there is a hybrid model of working, which includes working across Mid and South Essex and home working.

The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System will comprise the Integrated Care Board (ICB), which is the statutory body for the NHS, and the Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), which is a committee of the ICB, and brings together key health, care, community and voluntary sector organisations across the area.

The ICS has a bold ambition to deliver improved outcomes for our 1.2m population through our four Alliances, and we are placing clinical and professional leadership and the voice of our residents at the heart of realizing this ambition.

This post resides within the Nursing & Quality directorate who are responsible for ensuring that quality data is captured in a quality dashboard and fully supports the integration of health and care services across the ICP- putting residents at the centre of their care. .

Together this directorate will:

  • Lead system-wide action on patient quality and safety monitoring - to work with the Digital team to put in place the technology and data architecture that will support the integration of health and care services, putting citizens at the centre of their care.
  • Support the use of digital systems to demonstrate Quality and Safety Measures by supporting moving towards common digital environments and ensuring access that works for staff across our quality system, creating and maintaining a warranted environment specification that all partners can move towards.
  • Ensuring there is common interoperability consideration in place so we avoid creating additional siloed information.
  • Supporting the improvement of the Digital and Data Maturity across the ICS in line with the What Good Looks Like Framework.
  • Ensure the timely and appropriate management of Quality, Complaints and Patient experience Data audit and reporting and analysis to assist with the identification of themes, trends and opportunities for shared learning.
  • Deliver programmes of work that will accomplish required efficiency savings system-wide by 2024/25 (Within defined staff / spending / activity envelopes).

Mid and South Essex ICB is embarking upon an exciting and challenging multi-year programme of improve its use of Business Intelligence service functions. This programme of work is wide ranging in scope and aims to make significant, tangible improvements to use and interpretation of Quality data, Intelligence, to support system quality performance improvement and outcomes.

The Nursing and Quality team is seeking an experienced person to manage and oversee the use of quality data within the N&Q directorate, but also linking with system partners. A position that plays a key role in growing our analysis and reporting capability as a quality and patient safety system. As well as technical expertise you will bring energy, drive and creativity to the role, helping to produce outstanding report to support decision making. The role will involve working with key stakeholders to develop priority reports for the system which will transform the way partner organisations work together through joining together and better visualising our data. Through this work the role will support in establishing effective business processes to sustain the work into the future.
