Job summary
An exciting opportunity for three Commissioning Managers has arisen within the Office of the West Midlands (OWM) Primary Care Commissioning Team.
The OWM has been established to support the 6 Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) across the West Midlands to support the ICBs to deliver delegated responsibilities, including those for General Medical Practice, Pharmacy, Optometry and Dental services.
The Office for the West Midlands (OWM), is hosted by Birmingham and Solihull ICB, as the employing body, but the team supports the following ICBs:
- Black Country
- Birmingham and Solihull
- Coventry and Warwickshire
- Herefordshire and Worcestershire
- Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin
- Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent
Utilising 'Neighbourhood, Place and System' the commissioning team will champion collaborative commissioning, focus upon developing and commissioning integrated services, that support patients to manage their own care, prevent ill-health and access services in the most appropriate setting.
One Commissioning Manager will be responsible for a portfolio of contracts.
Another Commissioning Manager will be responsible for a portfolio of work to support across the Pharmacy, Optometry and Dentistry Commissioning teams, in particular on transformation workstreams.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be:
- Able to work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective commissioning and contract management, supporting managers and staff across the area to drive transformation and ensure effective planning and value for money of commissioned services, including procurement where appropriate.
- Responsible for the effective management of and support with transformation programmes across a portfolio of contracts within one of the functions in the Primary Care Team
- Lead the team in the delivery of project plans, allocating tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues and dependencies, considering best practice and current options and ultimately making decisions in the best interest of the project.
- Pro-actively manage stakeholders, respond to and resolve conflict when this arises through facilitation or other appropriate mechanisms.
- To utilise local knowledge alongside national comparator data to identify opportunities to improve quality and outcomes across the portfolio of commissioned services.
- Work with the ICB to identify opportunities to transform services to improve quality and outcomes.
