Job summary

The post holder will support the Associate Director of Contracting & Procurement with the negotiation and management of the ICB's contract portfolio of commissioned services including high value in system, non-NHS and voluntary sector contracts, having responsibility for developing effective, flexible, and innovative solutions for the management of the contract portfolio. The role will require previous experience of the negotiation and performance management of services under the Standard NHS Contract and use of commercial agreements where necessary. An understanding and awareness of the commissioning cycle and the provider selection regime will be a key requirement

They will help to manage the work and professional development of team members and deputise for the Associate Director of Contracting & Procurement. An essential aspect of this role is working to interpret and evaluate emerging NHS policy and its impact on the System, and collaborative working across Trusts and between Trusts, neighbouring ICBs and the NHSE Regional team. The postholder will also provide and receive complex, sensitive, and contentious financial information which they will need to share and present to a wide range of stakeholders on sensitive financial issues.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be required to actively review emerging National Contracting, Pricing and Provider Selection Regime/Procurement Act Guidance and rules that affect contracting strategies and translating Guidance into business as usual and team knowledge and consistent practice where relevant.

The successful applicant will line manage a team of contract managers and other contract/business support staff and will plan, manage and prioritise the team's workload including responsibility for supporting appraisals, development coordination of training of staff, recruitment, and where necessary processes such as disciplinary and grievance matters.

NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board was formed on 1 July 2022 under the Health and Care Act 2022, replacing NHS Frimley Clinical Commissioning Group.
