Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Pharmacy, Optometry and Dentistry Commissioning Hub for the South East Region. The successful candidate will be part of the team that has responsibility for commissioning Community Pharmacy and Optometry services, working in accordance with statutory requirements and national policy. We are responsible for ensuring there is good access for patients to high quality, safe, well managed, contractually compliant pharmaceutical and optical services.We work directly with contractors and a wide range of system partners to ensure the services are the best they can be for our population. We manage circa 1500 community pharmacy contracts and 950 optometry contracts across the region.

  • This is a full time post.
  • Pharmacy contract specific knowledge/experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Whilst the base for this post is in the Frimley area, applicants are welcomed from across the region. The team predominantly works from home and there will be no need to travel to a Frimley base on a regular basis.
  • Occasional travel region wide is necessary for this role and quarterly travel to London is required for face to face team meetings.

Main duties of the job

  • A key part of this role will be managing pharmacy market entry cases, preparing the cases for the Pharmaceutical Services Regulations Committee (PSRC), and writing the decision reports.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and attention to detail is key.
  • The requirements for this work are set out in the Pharmaceutical Regulations, they are mandatory and cannot be paused. Therefore, this role plays an important part in ensuring we meet our governance responsibilities associated with the decision-making processes of market entry applications.
  • The post holder will work within a motivated and positive team in fast paced working environment.
  • The role will also include other planned and ad hoc responsibilities supporting the contract management function.
  • A willingness to learn about the Pharmaceutical Regulations is essential

The South East Pharmacy Optometry and Dentistry Commissioning Hub is hosted by NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board (ICB) but works on behalf of all ICBs in the South East: Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire & Berkshire West ICB, Frimley ICB, Hampshire & Isle of Wight ICB, Kent & Medway ICB, Surrey Heartlands ICB and Sussex ICB.
