Data Scientist

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Business Intelligence Team in Cheshire & Merseyside ICB. As a part of the Population Health Team, you will have responsibility for developing and applying new and innovative ways of managing and analysing data. Working with data from all branches of health and social care, and pioneering the application of data from outside the traditional sphere, you will lead and support a growing and multi-skilled team of business intelligence experts, to build innovative applications using state-of-the-art big data technologies.

Working hand-in-hand with colleagues in academia, including the Institute of Population Health at the University of Liverpool, you will develop advanced analytics to enable Healthcare and NHS professionals to make the right and most cost-effective decisions for commissioning, patient care and healthcare services.

Using the very latest developments in analytics, Data Science and Operational Research you will be providing actionable data insight to senior managers and clinicians through the power of statistical modelling and analysis.

Main duties of the job

The role is designed to build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop interactive data analysis to support service delivery and drive transformation.

To deliver the above, the Data Scientist will:

Be comfortable working both within a team and autonomously showing the tenacity and innovation required to meet end goals.

Handle and analyse large health and social care datasets using tools such as SQL, R and Python, supporting the development of actionable intelligence and predictive analysis.

Proactively build effective working relationships across the ICB System with data experts in other teams as well as external customers and suppliers to ensure business deliverables are met and delivered.

Work with internal and external Data Scientists and BI colleagues to develop baseline analytics on health and social care data on a national scale.

Where applicable, apply knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cognitive Analytics and Big Data.
