Job summary

We are looking for an exceptional person to join us to work with partners across the SWL Integrated Care System to develop and deliver both the SWL ICB and ICP five year strategies. A key responsibilities will be for the the annual ICP Priorities Fund process which supports delivery of our strategic objectives. You will therefore have a track record in developing organiastional, and preferable system-wide strategies that work across organisational boundaries and have the ability to take complex, multiple-source information and data and turn this into organisational or system actions.

The Director of Strategy and Development will work with senior system leaders across SWL to determine the system OD priorities and lead the commissioning and delivery of programmes to address the priorities. Experience of leading and determining organiastional development priorities will therefore be important in this role.

You will support the Co-Chairs of the ICP in their work to create an effective, high performing Integrated Care Partnership which will include the setting of agendas for meetings and seminars and ensuring that ICP sub-groups are set up and run effectively to deliver the ambition and outcomes of the ICP Strategy.

You will lead and co-ordinate our system-wide learning, scanning good practice and innovation inside and outside of the NHS to make recommendations on good practice and innovation.

Main duties of the job

Strategy

  • Provide leadership to the development of both the ICB and ICP Five Year Strategies and oversee their delivery.
  • Ensure that both the ICB and ICP Five Year Strategies take a population approach to understanding people's need. Use population health data to ensure ICB and ICP strategies clearly address health inequalities, setting clear outcomes and standards to measure success.

System Development

  • Identifying organisational development needs requirements across SWL ICS and design and commission OD programmes to deliver the requirements.
  • Lead on the development and delivery of the ICP Priorities Fund, ensuring that the application of the fund is transparent and robustly evaluated. Lead on sharing good practice across SWL to ensure successful innovation is spread.

NHS South West London Integrated Care Board works with partners from across the South West London Integrated Care System (ICS) to develop plans to meet the health needs of the population and secure the provision of health services and is directly accountable for NHS spend and performance in South West London.

Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) are partnerships of health and care organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up services and to improve the health of people who live and work in their area. Each ICS consists of two statutory elements:

  • an Integrated Care Board, bringing the NHS together with its partners locally to improve health and care services
  • an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP): the broad alliance of organisations and representatives concerned with improving the care, health and wellbeing of the population, jointly convened by the ICB and local authorities in the area.

ICBs are statutory NHS bodies responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet the four core purposes of integrated care systems (ICSs):

  • to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare;
  • tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access;
  • enhance productivity and value for money and;
  • help the NHS support broader social and economic development.
