Job summary

We are looking for a talented and experienced Chief Executive to lead the South West London Integrated Care System (ICS) and act as the statutory accountable officer for the Integrated Care Board (ICB).

This is an exciting time to be joining us. While we continue to deliver on the ICB's statutory responsibilities and its four objectives, we have a renewed focus on supporting our front-line services in delivering excellent health care to our population, meeting our delegated responsibilities, and making South West London ICB a great place to work. This is all set within the context of meeting the current challenges facing the NHS and embracing opportunities to better serve our community.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of the three "big shifts" in health and care, and ensure we remain a highly collaborative system - with strong structures and relationships at Place and with our Trusts, Local Authorities and other partners - to ensure we deliver joined-up services for local people. With a seat on the London Region Executive Team, you will also have an active role in contributing to London's journey to become the healthiest city in the world.

Main duties of the job

This role will be rewarding and challenging in equal measure. Above all, you will provide strategic and visionary leadership across our health and care system and be instrumental in continuing to drive delivery of our Joint Forward Plan and Integrated Care Partnership Strategy. A compassionate and inclusive leader, you will be driven by empathy and a strong commitment to listening and learning. Importantly, too, you will be deeply committed to the integration agenda, embrace and strengthen the culture of transformation and change, and have a natural ability to engage, influence and collaborate with multiple and varied stakeholders.

About us

NHS South West London Integrated Care Board (ICB), as part of South West London Integrated Care System (ICS), is a partnership of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services to improve the lives of people in our six boroughs: Croydon, Merton, Kingston, Richmond, Sutton, and Wandsworth.

Each ICS consists of two statutory elements:

  • an Integrated Care Board, bringing the NHS together with its partners locally to improve health and care services.
  • an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP): the broad alliance of organisations and representatives concerned with improving the care, health and wellbeing of the population, jointly convened by the ICB and local authorities in the area

ICBs are statutory NHS bodies responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet the four core purposes of integrated care systems (ICSs):

  • to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare;
  • tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access;
  • enhance productivity and value for money and;
  • help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

NHS South West London Integrated Care Board decides how the South West London NHS budget is spent and develops plans to improve people's health, deliver higher quality care, and better value for money.
