Job summary

The Chief of Allied Health Professionals will have an influential role in supporting our clinical teams in NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West. The postholder will lead and support the further co-development and implementation of the AHP strategy, ensuring that it fully aligns with, and supports the delivery of, the Integrated Care Strategy and Joint Forward Plan.

The post holder will have extensive experience of working across complex health and care settings, in supporting clinical service re-design, whilst ensuring a strong focus on empowering and maximising the independence of the people and populations we serve. The post holder will empower and lead clinical change and improvement including working on delegated issues and making key recommendations as part of the system clinical leadership.

Working with partners, the Chief of AHP will work on ICS-specific future workforce plans for health and care, in conjunction with NHS England regional teams and Health Education England.

This role will offer an excellent opportunity and experience, for an AHP leader wanting to work in enabling and delivering integrated care, providing an ability to influence and shape the way we provide services, educate and develop our workforce, now and in the future.

Main duties of the job

Provide strategic, professional leadership for all AHPs in BOB, acting as a point of contact on professional and system wide issues.

Responsible for providing AHP leadership and expertise to the ICS in relation to quality, safety and operational delivery and matters of workforce development and equalities with focus on areas of ICS need as required and directed by the BOB board and AHP council for example, CYP AHP leadership.

Provide strategic leadership into other ICB wide clinical portfolios, for example frailty, rehabilitation or others.

Lead Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce transformation to drive and enable service redesign for models of care in line with the NHS long term plan and ICS strategic delivery plans.

Work in a matrix management style and to foster close working relations with other clinical group and leaders within the NHS and Local Authorities.

Work to enhance relationships and foster multidisciplinary working between AHPs healthcare scientists, medical staff, nurses and other Health and Care Professionals to improve patient care, research & development and innovation.

Undertake a baseline assessment of current services in specific areas to inform the development of the AHP strategy. Co-ordinate and drive change through the BOB AHP Council.

Develop appropriate business strategy with appropriate Managers/Directors.

Ensure appropriate governance structures are in place to support.

Ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement strategy is in place defining how the strategy will engage with all stakeholder groups and what information flows will be established and maintained.

  • Member of a relevant professional body.
