NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board is providing a fantastic opportunity to join the Improving Population Health Programme. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Head of Improving Population Health to join the team working to drive down inequalities and embed prevention across West Yorkshire,

The Improving Population Health function has a broad portfolio for prevention across West Yorkshire including responding to and delivering on National Programmes, developing priorities and projects with our partners at place (Bradford Airedale and Craven, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield).

Our work spans the whole lifecycle from preconception to ageing well including the intergenerational impact on health inequalities and prevention, contributing to our population living safe and healthy lives.

Main duties of the job

Provide direct support to the Deputy Director, delivering key elements of the Improving Population Health Programme across the system.

Lead strategic programmes with a particular focus on secondary prevention, tertiary prevention and addressing health inequalities.

Provide senior-level public health expertise, working collaboratively with local, regional, and national partners.

Ensure continuous learning by disseminating insights and outcomes across the programme, system, and partners.

Provide excellent programme management and co-ordination of a broad range of complex activities within multiple programmes/projects across a range of partners and stakeholders, many of which will require constant re-assessment of delivery timescales and plans where activities run behind schedule or delays caused by interdependencies.

To lead project teams (including direct reports and wider networks across the partnership) in an effective way to ensure the programme is realising its objectives, reporting achievement

  • Proven track record of leading effective change management programmes resulting in positive public health outcomes, across organisational boundaries.
