An exciting opportunity has arisen within the general practice (GP) IT support team for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a GP IT support engineer.

You will have opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality digital infrastructure and IT support services across its network of practices and partner sites.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, managing system configurations, assisting in the rollout of digital projects, and ensuring the effective setup and maintenance of IT systems and equipment. This role is integral to maintaining continuity of care through dependable digital services, especially in the dynamic environment of primary healthcare.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist their line manager in the support of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly GP community's IM&T estate.

Their responsibilities and duties will include:

  • The installation, configuration, maintenance and support of all IT end user equipment and installed software in use throughout general practice.
  • The team is responsible for providing first and second level technical support, project based work and service delivery. This can include application, system, and hardware related technical support, being the technical lead on projects and installations covering all of the ICB's IT services.
  • Assist with device refresh programmes by managing the installation and replacement of hardware within general practice and liaising with other teams and third parties as required until conclusion of the project.
  • Ability to install data and/or voice network hardware and cabling, including Cat 5e and Cat 6, to internationally recognised standards.
  • Training end users in the effective use of their IT equipment and software irrespective of the ability and seniority in general practice.
  • The installation, configuration, maintenance and support of both Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) and bespoke applications such as MS Windows, MS Office, Foundation Clinical Systems (EMIS/TPP) ancillary systems and other associated software.
  • Undertake proactive maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware faults and incidents with Windows desktop operating systems and supported applications
