Job summary

We are looking for an energetic, highly organised and creative Campaigns and media manager to lead on effective and innovative behaviour change campaigns, proactive media celebrating local success and reactive media enquiries.

You will be a team player who can work with system partner organisations and forge relationships beyond the health and care system and who is passionate about tackling inequalities in access and experience of health services and in outcomes.

Your role is ultimately to help people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to live longer, healthier, happier lives.

Main duties of the job

Devise and deliver communication campaigns

Develop and deliver our media strategy.

Lead on the ICB & ICS response to media enquiries

Develop effective relationships so we can work in partnership with local, regional & national media.

Support delivery of NHS national & regional campaigns and media announcements

Work in collaboration with public health & system partners

Establish and maintain good communications and relationships with key stakeholders.

Provide strategic communications advice.

Help ensure we produce clear, accurate & engaging content for a range of communications materials.

Work closely with the director and head of communication and engagement when handling key and challenging issues, conveying sensitive or urgent information.

Contribute to /or develop a culture that promotes equality and values diversity.

Responsible for the financial management of assigned resources. Manage a small communications budget.

Collate a range of information for dissemination to a broad range of senior stakeholders.

Use IT software to develop statistical or management reports for use in presentations.

Provide line management to the media & campaign officers & training for the team.

Manage the people process for the team members you line manage.

Make a proactive role in the promotion & delivery of our engagement programme of events.

Contribute to the strategic planning of projects.

Job responsibilities

The campaign and media manager will be an integral part of the communications and engagement team. You will be an experienced manager, providing management and leadership to deliver effective, behaviour changing and innovative campaigns and communications.

You will lead on the development and delivery of our communications campaigns, which aims to maximise impact, to share, nurture and embed best practice, avoid duplication and coordinate the delivery of communications to speak with one trusted voice to our audiences.

Your work will support the delivery of NHS national and regional campaigns and media announcements, while also developing and delivering Cornwall and Isles of Scilly system priority campaigns. You will work in collaboration with public health and system partners to develop our behaviour-change campaigns based on insights, operational and clinical input, engagement and patient voice.

Role responsibilities and accountabilities:

Devise and deliver our communication campaigns that aligns to the communications and engagement strategy and helps to achieve the goals set out in the Integrated Care Strategy, Joint Forward plan and the Integrated Care Board engagement and communications strategy.

Develop and deliver of our media strategy and provide leadership to the media officer to ensure they are supported in their role.

You will lead on the ICB and ICS response to media enquiries including anticipating, planning and agreeing responses to media enquiries on potentially contentious matters with partners and arranging media briefing, interviews and rebuttal as needed. Gaining approval and involvement of NHS and public sector colleagues (such as Department of Health ParlyHubs team) to ensure enquiries are responded to within deadline and the NHS aims and objectives are represented positively.

You will develop effective relationships so we can work in partnership with local, regional and national media. This will include the planning and implementation of a forward plan of regular proactive media events to generate positive coverage and awareness of the ICB and ICS work. Robustly defend inaccurate or misleading information, both in the media and on social platforms.

Support delivery of NHS national and regional campaigns and media announcements, making sure that we promote relevant achievements for campaigns, projects and initiatives happening in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly in close partnership with our partners.

Work in collaboration with public health and system partners to develop our behaviour-change campaigns based on insights, operational and clinical input, engagement and patient voice.

Establish and maintain good communications and relationships with key stakeholders including staff, patients, members of the public, partner organisations and the NHS regional/national teams.

Provide strategic communications advice to staff, Board members and health and care system communications colleagues on the best communication approaches that build trust and confidence in NHS services. briefing, supporting and accompanying senior members of the team for media interviews

You will help ensure we produce clear, accurate and engaging content for a range of communications materials, including digital content, films, press releases, newsletters, leaflets, social media, and online.

Work closely with the director and head of communication and engagement / when handling key and challenging issues, conveying sensitive or urgent information such as delays to patient services/pathways, significant service change and discontinuation of a service.

Work closely, and manage, other members of the systems communications team to provide direction and ensure deadlines are met, managing and mitigating associated risks, and ensuring activity remains on track and delivered on time and to budget.
