Our ideal candidate is naturally inquisitive and can work quickly and methodically to turn around accurate and exciting content which helps us to tell our story. With a particular focus on managing our media relationships and increasing awareness of the positive work being done to improve people's experiences of our health and care system.
Are you just as comfortable writing a press release or organising a media event as you are recording and editing content? Are you able to listen to someone's experience to help improve the way health and care is delivered in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly?

You will be employed by NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board and will work closely with our partners across the NHS, Cornwall Council, the voluntary sector, and patient representatives to serve the people who live and work in our communities.
You will join us in our citizen engagement events, plan proactive media and behaviour changing campaigns, support with social media; enabling you to learn new skills and develop fantastic communications experience and skills.
Main duties of the job
The communications and engagement officer will work within the ICB's communications and engagement team, which is responsible for ensuring a timely, accurate flow of information across the organisation, member practices and with other health and care system partners across the region, and nationally.
The post holder will work closely with our locality leaders, the media, key influencers, the voluntary sector, and community groups to source content and promote the achievements of our new integrated health and care system, and to respond to incoming media enquiries in a timely and effective manner.
They will actively contribute to maintaining and developing our health and care system's reputation, aims and objectives and the benefits of providing a joined-up patient centred health and care system, where services are designed in partnership with people and communities to meet their needs.
They will produce engaging, clear and accurate content (both digital and print) for a range of communications materials, including press releases, newsletters, digital platforms, and to share with our partners.
The post holder will work with colleagues at our partner organisations to ensure messages are joined-up and consistent.
They will work closely with our regional and national NHS colleagues to ensure they are kept informed and involved with key decisions.
About us
NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board was formed on 1 July 2022 to drive the integrated of health and care services.
Our team has hybrid working, from home, from our offices in Bodmin and at events across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Provide strategic communications and engagement advice to staff, members and communication colleagues of Cornwall and Isles of Scillys integrated care system to protect the its reputation.
Support the management of NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scillys integrated care board corporate identity and advise staff, partners and other stakeholders in its appropriate use.
Seek out and develop proactive opportunities to promote the work of NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and the integrated care system.
Create and commission content and promotional materials to support NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scillys integrated care system both internally and externally. This may include effective high-quality newsletters, leaflets, press releases, digital content and promotional materials.
Work with the media and NHS and public sector colleagues to ensure enquiries are responded to within deadline and the organisations aims and objectives are represented positively. Robustly defend inaccurate or misleading information, both in the media and on social platforms.
Proactively share knowledge from across the organisation/system to develop communications.
Work closely with the team and system partners when handling key and challenging issues, conveying sensitive or urgent information as necessary.
Promote opportunities to celebrate success across the health and care system, raising awareness and promoting good practice and innovation among staff and GPs at regional and national level.
Attend engagement events to understand patients experience of accessing health and care services.
