Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) is recruiting to an associate medical director position for senior doctors with particular interest in and experience in health and care transformation. This post will be part of the medical directorate within the ICB. The ICB's role is to join up health and care services, improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities for the 1.6 million people who live in Hertfordshire and West Essex.
This is a full time (Part Time/Job Share possible) post for an associate medical director from a background in public health medicine, or from any other medical specialty with significant experience in clinical commissioning and/or public health. The candidate must be on a specialist register (as a consultant or GP), or eligible for registration within 6 months of interview. Main duties of the job
Provide public health/clinical commissioning input to understand the health and care needs of the local population and identify priorities.
Horizon scan for new policies, guidance and opportunities as well as review performance and incorporate into prioritisation process.
Consider the whole system perspective of health and care services for population groups, including interdependencies (e.g. digital, workforce etc.).
Interfacing with other teams and leaders (e.g. executive teams, provider clinicians, primary care clinicians, nursing and quality, community teams etc.)
Provide clinical leadership into the development of new services, including reviewing evidence of best practice and reviewing service specifications, policies, business cases and clinical models/pathways.
Provide clinical/public health input into the evaluation of services (service evaluation, clinical audit, etc.) including recommendations around commissioning/decommissioning of services.
Manage junior clinical team members (e.g. Public Health Registrars, GP Fellows, Clinical Fellows, Foundation Year 2 doctors). Including organising and delivering teaching to junior team members.
Provide overarching leadership and strategic direction within work streams.
Review and sign off key documents (as above) for Boards.
Review and manage complaints.
Deputising for the Medical Director.
Member of the ICB on call rota.

- Inclusion in a GMC Full and Specialist Register (public health, general practice or other specialty) with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- If included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List in a specialty other than public health, candidates must have substantial experience leadership or commissioning to improve population health/ improve service quality
- If an applicant is UK trained, they must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview If an applicant is non-UK trained, they will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
- Applicants must meet minimum CPD requirements (i.e. be up to date) in accordance with Royal College/Faculty requirements or other recognised body
