Job summary
Successful candidates will work in Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB, with other members of the medical directorate, other ICB teams and wider system partners to develop evidence based care pathways, new models of care and service transformation plans. They will also ensure that decisions are patient focused and based on best evidence.
This post is designed to give an introduction to the role of Public Health, Clinical Commissioning, Clinical leadership and health and care transformation, including the provision of strategic medical advice based on needs assessment and evidence. The skills developed are essential for the work of Public Health practitioners and are relevant to the work of General Practitioners and doctors pursuing other specialties with an interest in quality/service improvement at scale and improving the health of the population. The role will develop the successful candidate across a range of clinical and public health skills related to services and pathway improvement, whilst meeting the health and care needs of the Herts and West Essex population of 1.6m, within defined budgets.
Public Health combined with medical advice and leadership at a population level plays a crucial role for the NHS in assessing the health needs of the population, improving the health of the public, shaping healthcare delivery, and evaluating the impact of health and health care interventions.
Main duties of the job
- Working with colleagues across the health and social care system to develop and improve local services and care pathways to meet the ICB's ambitions and national best practice.
- Interpreting and applying evidence from a range of sources to identify opportunities and inform commissioning decisions.
- Supporting the clinical funding function in the ICB by providing clinical advice based on best practice and local policy.
- Undertaking quality and clinical safety reviews, serious incident analysis and assessments.
- Helping to develop strategies to address the health needs of the population.
