Job summary

The Modelling and Analytics (M+A) team is one of few dedicated analytical groups offering specialist mathematical and statistical support to the NHS. Set up in 2018, the M+A team has run a wide variety of influential projects and has gained a national reputation as a leading authority in healthcare data science.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join the M+A team at an exciting time applying cutting-edge analytical techniques to a mature system-wide linked dataset covering the 1 million resident population in and around Bristol. Exploring novel quantitative approaches to areas such as demand forecasting, patient flow modelling, and risk stratification, the post-holder will be part of a dynamic and supportive team, working on some of the biggest problems in the NHS.

About us

The NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB) was established on 1 July 2022 and will be an integral part in delivering the success of the BNSSG Integrated Care System (ICS), which serves a population of 1 million. The ICS comprised of 10 partner organisations, including the three Local Authorities in our area, NHS Trusts, the new Integrated Care Board and community and General Practice providers.

Note that applicants need not have experience in managing others and experience within the NHS or wider health field is not required. Of most importance is a good grasp of applied modelling approaches underpinned by degree-level qualification(s) in a quantitative discipline. Experience of coding in statistical languages, especially in R, is strongly desirable. The role-holder should have an open and inquisitive mind and be prepared to think innovatively and creatively.

Flexible working options are available, although a minimum 50% working in the central Bristol office is expected. While the post is offered on a fixed-term basis, further/permanent options may be available.
