Job summary

The post holder will support the Funded Care Team in ensuring that the people of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) experience the best quality of services, clinical outcomes and patient experience when they interface with health and care providers.

Main duties of the job

The Brokerage Team Manager has the responsibility for ensuring that a full and comprehensive brokerage service is maintained and will work with commissioners and operational teams to manage the procurement and contracting for NHS funded packages of care and work in partnership with other organisations to ensure best value outcomes with a focus on quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Applicants will need to demonstrate past experience in commissioning, brokerage, management and administrative processes.

Good communication skills are essential as this role.

Job responsibilities

To operate as a senior member of Funded Care Business Team with detailed knowledge of the commissioning process, and be able to provide timely specialist advice and guidance.

To be responsible for the procurement of care for CHC eligible individuals, following guidance on clinical needs, and in doing so deliver appropriately commissioned care placements and packages of care.

To line-manage staff within the team including undertaking annual appraisal, management of leave and sickness, induction of new staff, etc.

To undertake project work as required, including the collation of data for reports and the preparation of presentations and support the team to ensure that the portfolio of tasks/projects is planned, managed and delivered effectively.

To work with commissioners and operational managers to adapt the brokerage service to changing internal and external needs.

To work across all service user groups eligible for Funded Care, including older people, disabled adults, people with learning difficulties, people with mental health needs, children and young people.

To lead on developing and maintaining relationships with care providers, and effectively negotiate fees for CHC care packages and placements.

To ensure the continuous review and implementation of processes and procedures, in order to deliver an efficient and effective services.

To be a key member of the team as well as supporting effective communication and stakeholder management, both internally and externally.

To communicate information, risks, issues and dependencies, including briefings and reports to a range of internal and external staff.

To contribute to the information management of performance, taking a lead for specific Projects

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Experience of managing staff, including delegating and oversight of duties.
  • Experience of working within a Brokerage team or similar specialist area

Desirable

  • Experience in communications and stakeholder management
  • A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it
