Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our strategic finance team as the Assistant Head of Contract Finance for Acute & Mental Health Services. If you are passionate about improving patient care and making a difference, we want to hear from you.

The full list of duties can be found in the job description, but the main duty would be to support and provide the BNSSG Finance Team within BNSSG ICB, to provide high quality financial leadership to internal and external stakeholders.

The suitable candidate will be a part or fully qualified accountant with suitable finance and contracting experience at this level in Acute and/or Mental Health settings. The candidate will be good at solving problems, communicating, being accountable and using IT systems. They will also have a passion for the NHS and want to drive value for money.

The Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire system has recently formed a place-based ICS for a population of 1 million. This hybrid, ICB based, role would include locality and system-level strands of work. This role composition would need to evolve in response to the changing organisational and system structures.

Main duties of the job

The Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Integrated Care System (ICS) have four key purposes:

  • Improve outcomes in population health and healthcare.
  • Tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access.
  • Enhance productivity and value for money.
  • Help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

The Business, Strategy & Planning Directorate supports the business in planning, and contracting to deliver local health services which are high quality, effective, value for money, and within appropriate governance frameworks for Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) ICB.The post is responsible for providing financial management & leadership to support these outcomes and the post holder will provide advice, guidance and deliver activity accordingly
