Job summary

The Mental Health Programme Manager Role has a primary focus on supporting and delivering BNSSGs Community Mental Health Programme with opportunity to support wider mental health programmes as required. The system-led Community Mental Health Programme is the largest change in Community Mental Health Services in a generation and offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of transforming mental health support. This programme is helping people get the care that they need, quickly and closer to home. The post holder will support the overall programme management, governance and transformation plans as well as acting as the lead for all ICB commissioning and contracting work associated with the programme.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring contracts are developed, negotiated and managed to ensure they meet the aspirations and outcomes required.

The role will be part of a programme management team and work alongside colleagues from AWP, Primary Care, Social Care, Voluntary and Non-Statutory organisations to deliver the vision, priorities and objectives of the programme. You should expect to work in a matrix management style, receiving direction from the ICBs Head of Contracts for Acute, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities as well as the Community Mental Health Programme Director. You will work closely with people with lived experience and clinicians to ensure co-production is at the heart of delivery.

Main duties of the job

The Mental Health Programme Manager will lead appropriate mental health programmes of work with an initial focus on BNSSGs Community Mental Health Programme. The role will support governance processes and provide project management to implement key projects. The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating stakeholder engagement working closely with people with lived experience and subject matter experts to deliver the programmes priorities.

The role will be responsible for project managing any contracting and procurement processes associated with any programme of work they are assigned to - including the writing of relevant specifications and communicating progress to senior meetings.

This role will be 37.5 hours per week and as an organisation we currently support a hybrid working model which enables staff to work from home and our office.

  • - Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • - Extensive knowledge of mental health, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to masters level equivalent
  • - Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
  • - Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy (particularly relating to mental health) and appreciate the implications of this on engagement and understanding of contracting and procurement
  • - Should have a detailed understanding of the Community Mental Health Framework
