Junior Data Engineer

Job summary

Junior data engineer x2 is required in the Information Solution for London (ISL) pa hosted service North East London ICB. You will assist in management of the data ingestion lifecycle working with the stakeholders, clinicians and other developers to build the data rules so the data will be presented in a useful and easy to use format for users.

This is a fix term contract for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

Engage with all stakeholders to identify requirements where appropriate and working directly with the team technical lead to agree the requirements, deliverables and timescales

Liaise with data quality and standards lead to build rules in the data processing which are likely to be highly complex

Help the developers to obtain quantitative and qualitative data on the healthcare dataset to analyse, determine and promote data driven decisions.

Proactively manage the key risks and issues associated with ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience X A/I
  • Significant of experience of working autonomously at a similar level in specialist area - showing both theoretical and practical experience X A/I
  • Significant evidence of continued professional development including project management or relevant experience
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team; providing leadership
  • Experience of old Microsoft stack - SSIS, SQL, ETLs AND/OR Experience of Cloud ELT/ETL such as ADF, Matillion etc
  • Proven track record of analysing source data, identifying DQ issues and working out the best way to ingest the data
  • Demonstratable database design skills, familiarity with Kimball or Data Vault 2 principles
  • Experience in writing Python and Azure Functions AND/OR previous experience of coding in languages like c#
  • Experience of javascript for Snowflake Stored Procedures / command line/Powershell / a big data platform such as Snowflake or Databricks desirable
  • Experience of loading data from various sources, knowledge of cloud and datalake security advantageous
  • Highly Advanced SQL Server, SSIS or Data Factory
