Job summary

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to join us as the Director of Finance.

As a member of the NEL ICB leadership team, the DoF will be responsible for the planning, allocation and management of resources to meet NEL's four strategic priorities: Employment and workforce; Long term conditions; Children and young people; Mental health.

Reporting to the Chief Finance & Performance Officer (CFPO) the DoF will be responsible for managing the teams within Finance, IT, Insights & Intelligence and Contracting. The chief tasks will be taking responsibility for the preparation of the monthly financial reporting, completing the monthly submissions to NHSE and the preparation and submission of the annual financial accounts, including liaising with internal and external audit.

The DoF will set the tone and provide outstanding professional, compassionate, inclusive and corporate leadership across the NEL ICB and the wider health and social care system to ensure the best possible standards of healthcare on behalf of the population

Main duties of the job

The DoF will work through professional networks across the ICS where relevant to provide collective leadership, engaging in peer review and challenge to improve overall practice and ensure shared learning. The DoF will uphold the standards for NHS Boards set out by the Professional Standards Authority and the NHS Leadership Framework competencies.

The DoF will have both an internal remit within the ICB as well as a broader ICS focus. Within the ICB the post holder will hold responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the Finance, IT and Intelligence Directorate for the CFPO Department. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives.

NHS North East London is the name of our Integrated Care Board - the organisation that replaced NEL CCG on 1 July 2022. We are responsible for planning and commissioning health services across north east London and are accountable for NHS spend and performance, ensuring all parts of the local health system work effectively together.
