Job summary
The Senior Server Engineer will use their extensive technical expertise to take a lead role in the Infrastructure team focused on the management of infrastructure systems and servers, ensuring servers and systems are deployed correctly, adhere to technical standards.
The Senior Server Engineer is a senior position and provides an escalation point for the wider team, applying expert knowledge to assist in the resolution of problems and develop the knowledge of the team. The role provides specialist advice across a range of IT infrastructure areas including, but not limited to; Server Compute, Storage (SAN/NAS), Enterprise Hypervisors (ESXi, Hyper-V, AHV),
Converged infrastructure, VDI (VMware, Citrix, MS RDS), Active Directory, DNS, File Systems, Print Services, Data Backup & Protection Systems including both installation and support. They are responsible for strategic planning, complex incident resolution and project works within the team.
The post holder will work flexibly between 8am and 6pm as required, during practice opening hours, including during practice extended opening hours, 8am-8pm, 7 days per week, including bank holidays.

Provide high quality 3rd line technical support to all users connected to the IT environment including corporate and primary care Lead on the monitoring of infrastructure systems and services including server monitoring, management, backups, restores, capacity management, disaster recovery Ensure all works is undertaken following the relevant processes and aligns to technical governance Develop and maintain the corporate Infrastructure to meet current and future needs of the organisation. Support Infrastructure Manager on planning, developing, reviewing, and updating/upgrading the organisations technical strategy for Infrastructure systems Take lead role driving effective resolution of all customer escalations to the Infrastructure team Work with relevant peers to ensure the security of the IT systems and to identify any risks arising on-going. Support the on-going assessment of the toolsets and systems to ensure they are fit for purpose, resilient and reflects the organisations Business Continuity requirements. Support the Enterprise security team to ensure our Infrastructure, servers and systems are secure and fully patched and protected and support remediating where required Support Infrastructure manager balance the needs of operational support and project delivery across the team Review and provide SME advice on the high-level and low-level designs to ensure proper integration of new solutions with technical standards Provide subject matter expertise on Infrastructure systems as and when necessary Ensure all policies in relation to Infrastructure systems are maintained, reviewed and updated in a timely manner. Lead SME supporting team to manage and implement configuration, deployments and upgrades of the Server estate in corporate and primary care environments Lead role on establishing process for full lifecycle management of servers and systems
