The NHS Sussex medicines optimisation team provide system leadership and oversight to ensure workstream delivery of the Sussex Medicines Optimisation strategy for the following priority areas:

  • Improving medicines use and value
  • Ensuring medicines safety and quality
  • Improving medicines integration and interfaces of care
  • Developing the Pharmacy workforce and ways of working
  • Support medicines optimisation data and digital technology transformation
  • Ensuring medicines sustainability and productivity

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced pharmacy leader who is interested in a role that supports the delivery of Medicines Use and Value, sustainability and productivity

and data and digital transformation priorities across ICS. The post holder will provide leadership to:

Regional medicines optimisation programmes

Provide expertise and advice for cost effective and evidenced base use of medicines in design and transformation of treatment pathways.

Work in collaboration with specialists to oversee the standardisation of medicines use across pathways and support implementation across the ICS.

Provide expertise and advice for service planning and contracting for standardised treatment pathways.

Support work on reducing health inequalities in outcomes and access to medicines.

The post holder will need to build and maintain a broad range of relationships at all levels of the system with a particular focus on integrated working and use of population health management approaches to improve access, experience, and outcomes from medicines.

The post holder will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and report directly to the Head of Medicines Governance and Value.
